One day she collapses from overwork and, despite the doctor’s warnings to take it easy, she chooses instead to join Puddysticks — a secret society that increases stamina and creativity, promising to make her the best at her work.
Puddysticks is a group of grown ups who play make-believe games like they are little kids. Through the play, each member gets a turn to share his or her darkest secret with the group and accept their majestic leader’s promise of healing.
Liz joins this group seeking a quick fix for work and instead revolutionizes her life.
But when Liz finally gains the courage to share her own deep-rooted shame, things don’t go as anticipated — this vulnerability turns her world upside down and she must find her own way to free herself from her past…
Director’s Statement
This film includes much of my own secrets, social anxiety, and experiences. I have learned that when someone has the courage to share their own story, it opens up others to do the same. Puddysticks offers a mirror for audiences to see themselves in the characters and help alleviate the stigma of private shame. My hope is that viewers will have a wildly enjoyable time through the dark comedy and unique world, and also feel more okay and alive in their own being. I deeply believe in this story.
